Participants: The project supports the participation of eight countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal and Vietnam.
Lead organisation: AARNet(Australia) https://www.aarnet.edu.au/ Objective: To extend the eduroam footprint in Asia by training network engineers from 8 new participating countries to provide them with the skills they need and ongoing support in order to deploy and manage eduroam in their home countries.
Approach: Following a previous successful eduroam extension project in 2015- 2016, this new project aims at extending the eduroam coverage in selected Asi@Connect beneficiary countries.
Program: The program is composed of two sessions - a) Video training sessions with all participating countries; b) two-day workshop at APAN46 in Auckland, New Zealand. The overall project schedule is shown in the table below.
Expected outcome: The project proposes to extend the eduroam infrastructure into countries where there is limited or no existing coverage and to provide each country with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage this service.
