Detailed information : NUST-SEECS is pleased to announce that the training event on Enabling Sustainable Solutions for Agriculture and Water Resources will be held virtually on 12th – 15th October 2021 at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad H-12 campus, Pakistan. This training is designed for engineers, academic researchers and AI practitioners working at universities, especially involved with interdisciplinary research in the application of AI, IoT in developing sustainable solutions for agriculture and water resource management. This event is organized in a hybrid mode (virtual for international participants & on-site for participants from Pakistan). The training content will be focused on the importance of Artificial Intelligence and IoT in agriculture and water resource management for food security. Agriculture in the SAR (South Asian Region) is caught in a low equilibrium trap with low productivity of staples, supply shortfalls, high prices, low returns to farmers and area diversification – all these factors can be a threat to food security. Addressing this issue can have a great impact over the lives of the people in this region. Contributing to sustainable water and agriculture resource management systems can be a challenging task. This training is an initiative towards a major goal of food security in the South Asian Region through stocktaking of research, potential and role of technology, and other interdisciplinary initiatives. This training also includes a hands-on portion on Crop Simulation for Agriculture applications using Unreal Engine. International invited speakers including Prof. Karsten Berns, Dr Jakub Pawlak & Dr Axel Vierling will be delivering talks/tutorials. More details can be seen here http://vision.seecs.edu.pk/esaa/ Invited engineers shall be those working currently in each NREN’s partner university or an academic researcher or postgraduate research students in the interdisciplinary domain of AI, IoT & Agriculture and Water Resource Management. The NREN nominees should be familiar with fundamentals of AI & Computer Vision and should have high level knowledge of its application in agriculture and water resource management, with minimum three (3) years of experience in the field. The Workshop will create a chance of better collaboration within Asian Countries. |
