Laos connects to TEIN4, via Thailand Laos recently becomes the latest country to be connected to Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN4), the Asia Pacific research and education network, bringing the number of Asian countries to 19 benefiting from the high speed network. The new link initially connects the National University of Laos (NUOL) in Vientiane and has the potential to connect Laos’s researchers and educators with those around the world. This move will improve the quality and quantity of research conducted in Laos’s higher education institutes and research centres. The physical connection of Laos would not have been possible without the help from ThaiREN, the national research and education network organization of Thailand. Both NUOL and ThaiREN have worked very closely to help Laos connect to the TEIN network via Thailand. We foresee the development of Laos’ national education and research network, LERNET, will be boosted by its link to TEIN4, as it works to strengthen national and international research collaboration. |
